SIGNIFICANT MOVE BY SWITZERLAND

LONDON, June 13.—The Associated Press correspondent at Berne says that the Swiss Government today called on every Swiss housewife to lay in 201 b. of food for every member of the household before the end of September, as an emergency reserve in case of “unforseeable events.”

Today's appeal amplified a Government communique issued on May 3, which said: “Preparations for the military defence of the country would be Incomplete If economic defence were not. simultaneously prepared by all possible means."

Switzerland’s secretary of commerce, M. Rodolphe Rubattal, said that the Government’s call for a household food reserve should not be regarded as an Indication that Switzerland thought war was imminent, but merely as "a normal precaution.”
