Evans Bay Power Station Bought By Government
WELLINGTON, Last. Night (PAL —The Evans Bay power station has been sold to the Government bv the Wellington Citv Council for £295,000, plus an amount to be fixed for spares and surplus plant. This was announced at the City Council meet-' inc' tonight. The plant’s capacity is 23,000 kilowatts. Since 1940 the station has been run at the direction and cost of the State Hydro Department. The plant will be used as part and parcel of the North Island network.
