Mr Lord is retaining his last season’s heifers—now carrying their second calf — and the cows to be offered for sale are principally 3rd, 4th and sth calvers with older cows that are good producers. This herd has been built up on sound lines over a period of some ten years, and for a herd, of under 50 cows topped the herd testing group (Westmere-Kai Iwi) for three years, 1941 to 1943-44, and was again successful in being top of the group with 97 cows in 1948-49 season.
