‘GORGEOUS GUSSY’ NOW HAS PUFF PANTIES AND NO LACE; MUCH FUSS
LONDON, June 10 (Rec. 8 pm). Gertrude (“Gorgeous Gussy”) Moran, whose lace frilled panties caused a Wimbledon sensation last year, today lifted the skirt on her 1950 secret—“puff panties.” Within two hours of landing in London by air from California, the 26-year-old tennis beauty was parading before a battery of bulb-popping- British cameramen in a West End modelled new French-made tennis costume, of pleated white silk chiffon, with short puff sleeves, and pleated bloomer type of puff panties to match. She pirouetted, stood on one leg—everything except stand on her head—for the photographers, and all with a smile.
“Gussy,” holding out the ends of her divided skirt like a ballet dancer to satisfy demands from pressmen, said: “You see—no lace.” It was evident that “Gussy’s” famous lace models, left at home in California, were now surpassed.—Reuter.
