AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA)—The Auckland Racing Club's winter meeting concluded at Ellerslie yesterday In fine weather. The track was heavy. The winning double, Pierre and Silver Birch, paid £483 6s for £l. The win-and-place totalisator handled £190,544 and the doubles totalisator £25,292, making a total of £215,836 for seven races, compared with £217,195 on the corresponding day last year. The total for the meeting was £729,185, compared with £702,031 last year, att increase of £27.154. A stewards’ inquiry was held following the running of the Winter Steeplechase concerning interference by Modern View, who finished firs’., to the second horse, Cu-Na-Mara.
