Intoxicated Motorist Almost Went Over Wharf

Saturday (PA).—A Kaikohe motorist had a remarkable escape yesterday afternoon, when his car came to rest partly .suspended over the edge of the Whangarei town wharf. Subsequently he was arrested and this morning he appeared in the Whangarei Court on a charge of having been in a state of intoxication while in charge of the motor-car. He was William Jackson, aged 57, a linotype operator, of Kaikohe. He pleaded guilty and Messrs. G. H. Lloyd and W. Reynolds, J.P.’s, fined him £l5, cancelled his driving licence for 12 months, and ordered him to pay a doctor’s fee of £1 Is.
