Child Drowned In Concrete Tank

AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— A child aged one year and 11 months was drowned in a concrete tank on his parents’ farm at Towai, Northland, on Saturday afternoon, when his mother’s back had been turned for about 10 minutes. He was: Collis Frank’yn Deane, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Deane, of Towai. The child had been playing outside the house while his mother was hangin.g out the washing. Mrs. Deane went into the house and when Mr. Deane, who was milking, came from the cowshed to draw off some water he saw the child’s body floating in the tank. Artificial respiration wa.s tried without success. An inquest was held before the district coroner, who returned a verdict ot accidental drowning.
