Clearing Sale At Feilding

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held one of the most successful sales held in the Feilding district for many years, on account of Masters Bros., on Tuesday last, when their offering of 30 grade Friesians, which included six pedigree cows and 14 two .nd three-year-old grade Friesian heifers, was submitted to a particularly large attendance of buyers from the Wanganui, Otaki, Levin, Dannevirke, and surrounding districts. The sale opened on four Friesian cows and one heifer which had calved within the last three weeks. Competition was animated from the outset, the four cows selling from £24 to £29, and the heifer at £4O, the five head averaging £29 Bs. The dairy cows, which were mainly July and August calvers, also sold under keen competition, at prices ranging from £lB 10s to £3l, five pedigree Friesian cows selling from 22 guineas to 38 guineas, the 26 cows averaging £25 10s per head. The 2 and 3-year heifers were an outstandingly bred line of beautiful type and quality and met with the best competition of the day. The 3yr. heifers averaged £32 10s and the ten 2yr. £2B 12s, the tops selling to £36. One 2yr. pedigree Friesian bull realised 471gns.

Mr. K. J. T. Masters’ consignment of nine 2yr. grade Friesian heifers and three grade Friesian cows also commanded keen competition. The heifers were an attractively bred line which sold from £2O to £3l, averaging £26 18s, the three cows averaging £24. The breeding sows met with a ready sale at prices ranging from £l2 to £l5, and the 35 store pigs sold from £2 16s to £3 14s. The implements and truck sold well at prices fully firm on recent clearing sales: Following is the range of prices:

A particularly fine rising three-year-old Friesian heifer, close to calving, on account of Mrs. E. K. Dunn, Sanson, realised £4O.
