N.Z. Delegation To Empire Press Conference Is Now In Canada
VANCOUVER, June 2 (Recd 6 pm). The main section of New Zealand’s delegation to the Empire Press conference passed through Vancouver yesterflay enroute to a meeting at Quqbec from June 8 to 29. Mr. R. D. Horton, publisher of the "New Zealand Herald” and “Weekly News,” cl Auckland, and president of the New Zealand Newspaper Proprietors’ Association, heads the delegation, which left for Banff, Alberta, last night. Others were Mr. G. Burns, editor of the Christchurch “Star-Sun.” Mr. E. G. Guy “Rotorua Post,” Mr. C. G. Kerr, chairman of the Timaru “Herald,” Mr. D. Smith, managing director of the Dunedin "Evening Star,” Mr. R. D. Bell, junior associate editor and director of the Auckland “Observer.”
Mr Horton told reporters that conditions are good in New Zealand and will be as long as export prices are maintained. that there is complete employment but that skilled men were needed in almost every trade. He added that the country was getting only 10.000 immigrants a year, due to lack of shipping accommodation.
