Only Small Increase In Petrol Sales In Britain
LONDON, June 2 (Reed BpmL The "Financial Times” says Britain's derationing of ’ petrol so far has brought only a small increase of sales, according to retailers throughout the country. A heavy demand was recorded on May 26, when the lifting of restrictions was announced, but it dropped during the next two days and by May 29 was little above normal. It is now believed that the initial rush was due to an unsubstantiated public fear that garage stocks would dry up.
