DEATH OF MR. V.N. CLARE OCCURS SUDDENLY IN WHANGAREI
The death ocurred suddenly at Whangarei on Monday, of Mr. Valentine Norton Clare aged 49 years. Mr. Clare was born in Wanganui in 1901, and on leaving school joined the employ of the Simplex Machinery Co. In 1925 he was transferred to Australia, and remained there until 1939, when he was transferred back to Wanganui. Last year Mr. Clare was promoted North Island representative of the firm with headquarters at Whangarei. In his younger days Mr Clare was prominent in motor-cycling races on the track and hill climbing. He is survived by his wife and three daughters. The daughters are Mrs. Bitchcliff (Christchurch), ValUa and Colleen (Whangarei). Messrs. C. H. A. Clare (Wanganui) and E. N. Clare (Hamilton) are brothers. Mesdames O. Thompson (Sydney), J. Ruscoe, A. T. Henry, and L. W. Porteous, all of Wanganui, are sisters.
