FARM MANAGER AWARDED BONUS ON PROFITS FROM ESTATE’S FARM
TAIHAPE, Last Night (OC).—Reserved judgment for plaintiff for £l5B representing a five per cent, bonus on the profits of the Wall Estate farm property- at Raukurua near Taihape for the year ended June 30, 1948, was given by Mr. A. Coleman in the Magistrate's Court today in favour of Albert Floyd, formerly farm manager of estate, against Mrs. Sarah Emma Laidlay, sole surviving partner in the estate.
The profits for the year in question were £3160 and plaintiff's claim was based on five per cent, of this amount. In giving judgment for plaintiff for the full amount claimed, the magistrate pointed out that Floyd had been paid a bonus every year except the last year he was manager. The Court was of the opinion that the real reason why no bonus was paid in 1948 was because Floyd hadleft at a most inconvenient time after short notice. Plaintiff was allowed costs and witnesses expenses in addition to the £l5B claimed. He was represented by Mr. T. C. Kincaid and Mr R. E. Ongley appeared for defendant.
