Stakes For Division Races At Waverley

With provision for divisions having to be made in five of the eight events carded at the Waverley Racing Club’s autumn meeting today, the club had to be prepared to furnish an additional sum of anything up to £585. The Symes Memorial Maiden Race may have to be run in three divisions, in which event the stake-money will be increased from £2OO to £390, with £l3O for each division. Should scratchings reduce the field to t.wodivision dimensions, with not more than 16 in each division, the stake vzill be £3OO, with £l5O for each division. The Waverley Steeplechase field is four over the safety number of starters, and provision has been made to increase the stake-money from £325 to £430, with £l5O for first, £45 for second and £2O for third in each division. In the Kohi Hack Handicap the stake may be increased from £225 to £320. The Wairoa Handicap and the President’s Hack Handicap fields were each one over the safety number, but the necessary scratching has obviated divisions.
