Australian Buyer Purchases His Nibs

For 2000 Guineas HASTINGS, Last Night (PA).—The good-class three-year-old colt His Nibs, winner of five races, including the Wellington Shorts and Nai Nai Handicaps, and £3250 in stakes, was sold for 2000gns to Mr A. V. O’Brien on behalf of an Australian buyer at the fifth annual Hawke’s Bay thoroughbred sales today. Part of the offering on behalf of Mrs H. Beecher, His Nibs aroused spirited bidding from a large bench of buyers. From the same draft, Jolly Sailor made 800gns and Hazaan, a Pherozshah filly, 600gns. A colt by P*ierozshah from Golden Thoughts which, completed the Beecher draft, brought 600gns. There was also considerable interest in the offering of the whole of Messrs D. J. and E. M. Langley’s team. Demonic, a high-class miler, was passed in at 775gns, but Outlook brought 600gns, Precedency 300gns, Wealthy, a colt by Lord Bobs from Crucible, 750gns, and Gildchase 200gns. The two-year-old half-brother to Stanfred, purchased by Mr T. C. Lowry for 3000gns as a yearling, was sold to his breeder, Mr J. A. Mitchell, Longburn, for 300>gns. The top-priced yearling at the sale was a bay colt by Bulandshar from Princess Lackham, sold for 350gns. Realisations included:— A/c Mrs H.
