FLIGHT COMMANDER MAY BE FAVOURITE FOR MANAWATU TROT CLASSIC

Feature events at Awapuni today for the concluding day of the Manawatu Trotting Club’s meeting are the Woodfield Memorial Handicap and the Manawatu Challenge Stakes. Not only do these two events form the totalisator double for the day, but they have also attracted good fields which should provide the maximum of interest.

The three-year-olds which comprise the field for the Challenge Stakes include nine winners of the current season, some of them successful in recent essays. Best performance is that to the credit of Flight Commander, who has been a winner on four occasions. On the strength of his third in the Manawatu Cup last Saturday he is likely to be sent out favourite. He will not have matters all his own way, however, and he should be fullv extended.
