GOT DRESSED FOR TOPDRESSING TALK

RAETIHI, Last Night (Spec.)—• A well known farmer living on the Parapara Road, was in Raetihi this week clad in his rough working clothes. He’was reminded by his friends of a big meeting of farmers that, day, called by the Waimarino branch of Federated Farmers, to discuss aerial topdressing. His friends urged him to attend the meeting, but he looked down at what he had on and said that from a sartorial point of view, he was unable to attend any meeting. He had no time to travel all the way home to change. His friends said that he would be forgiven if he turned up clothed as he was. They were no “white collar brigade.” But the farmer proved adamant. His clothes were working clothes, not meeting clothes, and that was that.

Imagine the surprise of the meeting, however, when a very short time later in walked the Parapara farmer resplendent in a new suit.

“It was worth it,” he said afterwards, “to hear the topdressing scheme put forward.”

“And so you, to get the low down on top-dressing, got dressed for the occasion,” said his friends.
