ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH, WANGANUI EAST, AS A SEPARATE PARISH

Reference to All Saints’, Wanganui East, becominf a parish of its own was made by the Rev. F. A. Keay, at the annual meeting of parishioners held on Thursday night, when there was an attendance of about 80. Mr. Keay mentioned the various activities of the church and made a special appeal for more teachers in Sunday School and Kindergarten work. Mr. J. E. Harper presented the bal-ance-sheet, which disclosed an excess of income over expenditure of £124, the assets being £5lB and liabilities nil. Several speakers made complimentary remarks on the balancesheet.

Reports were read from the finance committee, people’s warden, mothers’ union, guild, Sunday School kindergarten. There were twelve nominations for the church council of ten. Those elected were Messrs Barnett, Davey, Ford, Giddings, Harper, Jull, Johns, Porteous„ Webb and Mrs. Webb. Mr. Keay again appointed Mr. A. W. Jones as his warden. Mr. E. L. Miller was re-elected unopposed, people/ warden. Synodsmen: Messrs Hillier, Kenward, Boswell, Johns jun., B. Walker, Allan, Wenham, Gill, Williams, Latham, Shanks; Mr. J. S. Kenward was re-appointed auditor.. Several matters of church interest were discussed. A suggestion was made to form a branch of the Church of England Men’s Society and Mr. Kenward offered to take charge of the boys’ club Mr. Keay said he was sorry to lose the services, by resignation, of Miss C. Alexander, who for many years had been in charge of the Sunday kindergarten. In recognition of her long and valued services a writing case was presented to Miss Alexander.
