More Hospital Patients.

The number of patients admitted to the Wanganui Hospital during the year ended March 31, last, 2455 in 1948-49 to 2814, reported the medical [ superintendent, Dr. H. L. Widdowson, in his annual report io the Wanganui I Hospital Board. The number of occupied beds was 171 as against 166.9. “This increase is accounted for partly by the resumption of operations for tonsils and adenoids.” Dr. Widdowson added. ‘There has also been a quicker turnover of patients, as shown by the average stay of 20.5 days as against 22.7.” Fortunately there have been no major epidemics. In fact, we had only three cases of diphtheria, one of whom was a carrier.”
