Carrier Planes Diverted
WHANGAREI, Last Night (PA).— The cause of fighter planes from the aircraft carrier Sydney coming to Onerahi instead of landing on the mother ship was that a minor defect in the arrester mechanism on the flight deck might possibly have resulted in damage to the planes. This risk was not worth taking in peacetime.
