MR. HOLLAND TO TELL COUNTRY WHERE IT STANDS FINANCIALLY

WELLINGTON, Yesterday (P.A.)— “I intend to tell the country exactly where we stand financially,” said the Prime Minister, Mr. Holland, in referring last evening to a statement he intends to make this week giving a comprehensive survey of New Zealand’s finances. He added that he thought the public would find it highly interesting and informative. Mr. Holland's statement will be issued in two parts. The first one will be released for publication tomorrow afternoon and the second part for publication Thursday morning. The survey is expected to deal with the public accounts for the current financial year, and give details of revenue from taxation, the proceeds from borrowing, and expenditure commitments. It will probably give the state of the country’s finances as the present Government found them on taking office after the defeat of the Labour Government. “I will tell the country how much we spend in a year and where we get it from,” said Mr. Holland.
