Threats Against Life Of President Truman
WASHINGTON. Jan. 30 (Recd. 6 p.m.)—Secret Service agents in 1949 investigated 1925 threats against President. Truman's life, the North American Newspaper Alliance said today. The threats generally were made by mentally sick people. There were cases where agents intercepted demented armed persons trying to get into the White House. The investigations also uncovered some persons who had been trained in making and using explosives. Last year’s threats against Mr. Truman were the smallest number in years. There were 3351 threats against him in 1946, and the Secret Service had tn detail 106 guards to protect Mr. Truman and the White House staff
