SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Mrs. W. Hawk, of Hawera, has been on a visit to Wanganui. Miss J. Lucas has returned to Kopane after spending a holiday in Wanganui. Mrs. C. Clark, College Street, has been visiting Ohakune. Mrs. T. P. Richardson, Ingestre Street, has returned from a holiday in Napier. Mrs. G. C. Glenn. Victoria Avenue, has returned from Wellington. Mrs. F. D. Deacon, Castlecliff, has returned from Taumarunui, where she attended the wedding of her son. Mrs. J. G. Bates and family, of Pittiki, have returned home after a holiday spent at Auckland, Atorohanga,. Hamilton and a visit to the Waitomo Caves. Miss Audrey Bates, Wanganui, Is visiting Taihape for the wedding of Miss Dorothy Missen, at which she is to be a bridesmaid. Miss Bates is to take up a teaching profession on the staff of the Taumarunui School. A Gisborne girl, Miss Margaret Allen, is to till the position of relieving pianist on the Wanganella while the Australian pianist, permanently employed, takes a holiday in New Zealand. Miss Allen, who is a proficient pianist, takes over her duties on Thursday, and as well as providing musical entertainment for an hour during dinner and at other times during the day, she will be called upon to help organise deck games and other entertainments. Mrs. D. F. Abernetry, of Christchurch, returned south yesterday after spending a holiday in Wanganui with her mother, Mrs. C. G. O. Naumann, Virginia Road, St. John’s Hill. Old Folks’ Association. A musical programme was provided recently for old folks at their rooms. The following contributed items: Mrs Kempton (piano solo), Mesdames Gullery and Kempton (community singing), Mrs. Norman (harp and banjo solos), Mrs. Needham and Mrs. Gullery (songs), Miss H. Potaka (guitar items and cowboy songs), Mrs Phillipson (song), Miss V. Potaka (piano solo), Miss Jones (recitation), Mr. W. Turner (humorous items), Mr. G. Watts (piano items of his own composition).
