“Your Brother George”; R.S.A. Little Theatre’s Next Major Production

The Wanganui R.S.A. Little Theatre has been rehearsing thoroughly these last few weeks its next major production, “Your Brother George,” which is to be presented in the Opera House on two nights, February 20 and 21. The plan is to open at the D.I.C. on Wednesday week. “Your Brother George” is a hilarious comedy in three acts, by Conrad Carter. It was an outstanding success in London. The play revolves round the vicar’s brother George, an extremely “world-wise” personality, who has a penchant for impersonatI ing others. He manages to get into some rather awful situations, and not only that, involves others in those situations. It can be imagined what arises when this gambling, free living type of man enters into the quiet orderly life of the family at the vicarage. That situation is not made any the less distressing when George insists on aiding every member of the household to rectify his or her problems. The more George sets about “rectifying" the more lively becomes the tempo of the play. The cast is:— Robert Bauld, as George; James Pettigrew, as Rev. Marcus Smith; Shirley Smith, as Sheila Smith; Derek Brown, as Douglas Smith; Jack Rolls as Philip Martin; George Williamson, as Bishop of Sloany; Winifred Young, as Mrs. Babbacomb-Strongways; Ernest O'Keefe, as Jabez Borolescu; Fayette Rountree, as The Maid. The producer: Eileen Warnock.
