University Students’ Opinion

Sir,—On page four of Saturday morning's edition of your newspaper appeared a paragraph stating that the University students’ congress was op* posed to the principle of peacetime military conscription. Unfortunately the article printed in your newspaper reads as if the opinion were that of a representative body of New Zealand University students, which is not correct. Congress is merely the name given to a holiday camp organised by the New Zealand University Students’ Association for the benefit of any students who care to attend and is not, as the name may imply, a conference of elected representatives of all the University students of New Zealand. Thus, the opinion published is not necessarily the opinion of the majority of University students in New Zealand and should not be taken as such by the public of New Zealand.—l am, etc., A. STUDENT.
