Away down South the Winton Jockey Club’s meeting will be held today, with two trotting events, one divided, to build up the programme. Divisions have also been arranged in the Trial Stakes. The principal event is the Soldiers' Memorial, in which three New Zealand Cup candidates in Excellency, Aganev and Sir Garnish (last year's Cup winner) are engaged.
