Theft Of Petrol From Company; Man Found Guilty
AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— After a rehearsing of charges relating to the theft of petrol from Atlantic Union Oil Company, Jack Crutchley, aged 25, driver, was found guilty in the Supreme Court on two counts. These were theft of 255 gallons worth £3O from the company on or about. December 16, and obtaining £35, the price of 285 gallons by false pretences from Clevedon Motors Ltd. on March 21. In announcing the finding, the foreman presented a rider entering strong disapproval of the laxity in enforcing the checking of petrol tank trucks, thereby placing unnecessary temptation in the way of employees. His Honour said he would take this into consideration in deciding the sentence to bo imposed. Prisoner was remanded for sentence.
