More Road Deaths This Year Than Last

WELLINGTON. Last Night (PA). —Thirteen people were killed in traffic accidents during October, according to figures compiled by the Minister of Transport, Mr. Hackett. Road deaths so far this year totalled 179, an increase of 13 over the same period in 1948. The Minister also said that there had been an apparent lack of care on the part of drivers of some vehicles drawing trailers. He warned drivers to make sure that their vehicles were mechanically sound for the approaching holiday season.
