Following is the draw for the Tallisman Trophy to be played at the week-end by the Waimaritro Ladies’ Golf Club. The Tallisman Trophy is given for any player having the best aggregate of two bogey rounds. The rounds are on November 6 and 13. The draw for the first round is: Mrs. Barrington, Miss Manson, Miss O’Donnell, Mrs. Lewis; Miss Galpin, Mrs. Windle, Mrs. Kirkby, Mrs. Stewart; Mrs. Mahar, Mrs. Zohrab, Mrs. McAlister, Miss Legge; Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. O'Keefe, Mrs. Baird. Mrs. Robb; Mrs. Upton, Mrs. Mowat, Miss Hagan, Mrs. Towler; Mrs. Williams. Miss Donnelly. Miss Eastman. Mrs. Te Karu; Mrs. Thompson, Miss Lynch, Mrs. Budd, Mrs. Carter; Mrs. Dalgleish, Mrs. Herbert, Mrs. Donnelly. PERSONALITIES AT THE LADIES' GOLF TOURNEY.” (By “Caddy.”) The Taihape ladies' golf tourney has came and gone, but impressions of some of the leading personalities still remain. Mrs. M. Towler (Waimarino), who won the open championship, was easily the best and most experienced competitor at the tournament, and plays on a low handicap. She is good enough to represent Wanganui in interprovincial matches. She has an easy, graceful style, with no apparent weaknesses and is always a hard player to beat. Mrs. J. Wysocki (Marton), who was runner-up to Mrs. Towler in the open championship, is noted for her crisp iron shots. She is also good off the tee, but is inclined to lack steadiness round the greens, some of her chip shots leaving much to be desired, but no doubt she will remedy this as time goes on. Her surprise victory over Mrs. G. Foote, of Rangitikei (last year’s winner) was a particularly fine effort. Mrs. Thelma Styche (nee O’Callaghan), of Dannevirke, played some excellent golf throughout the tourney, her chip shots being so accurate that in many instances she was left with very short putts. Her puffing and driving were also good, but occasionally she failed to get good results with her irons. She qualified third for the championship with 87 and defeated Mrs. Quinn at the 20th in the first round, but lost to Mrs. Wysocki, one down, in the semi-final, after a very keen contest. Mrs. L. Bradley (Apiti) returned a card of 88 in the qualifying round, th e l as t n i ne holes being completed in 41. She shared fourth position with Miss D. Belk (Utiku) and won the senior medal competition. Mrs. Bradley defeated Miss Belk in the first round but was unable to produce her best form the following day, and went under to Mrs. Towler, in the semifinal, by a big margin. Of all the competitors none had a more graceful swing than Mrs. Bradley. Miss D. Belk, the Utiku champion, gave a good account of herself, and though beaten in the first round of the championship, she was by no means disgraced. With more experience she should go a long way, as she has some excellent shots “in the bag.’ Mrs. Quinn, many times champion of the Taihape Ladies’ Golf Club, though she lost the title this year to Miss A. Spooner, is a strong, forceful player, who is always a force to be reckoned with, her iron shots being particularly powerful. Five down at one stage in her match with Mrs. Stuche, she fought back brilliantly to take the game to the 20th before finally acknowledging defeat. Mrs. J. H. Marshall (Utiku) put up a good performance to qualify for the open championship and was unlucky in meeting a player of Mrs. Towler's calibre in the first round. With more experience Mrs. Marshall should do well. The second eight plwayers an the qualifying round competed for the Raukura Handicap, which ranks next in importance to the championship. This event was won by Miss A. Spooner, the present Taihape senior lady champion, and the longest hitter in the ladies’ club. Playing against Mrs. McKee in the final, Miss Spooner put her drive over the brow of the 15th—a colossal effort that not many men can emulate. Her short game is inclined to be patchy, but she is easily the most spectacular player in the ladies’ club and liable to turn on the “fireworks” at any moment. Mrs. McKee put up a good show, but the length of her opponent’s drives must have been unnerving. Mesdames W. Thurston (Utiku), C. H. Transom (Utiku), M. Signal (Rangitikei) and Miss A. Thompson (Rangitikei) shared qualifying honours in the Raukura Handicap. A feature of Mrs. Thurston’s piay was her short back swing and long follow through, which brought good results. Mrs. Transom plays a nice gam e and Mrs. Signal and Miss Thompson also gave a good account of themselves. Mrs. Dickinson and Mrs. Caithness, of Marton, though not quite up to the standard of some of the other players, nevertheless acquitted themselves creditably. Mrs. A. M. Gordon (Taihape) and Mrs. V. Marshall (Wanganui) both returned a nett score of 66 in the junior medal competition, the latter winning on the count back. Mrs. Gordon played well and reduced her handicap considerably. Mrs. D. Collins scored a popular win in the junior bogey competition, while Mrs. G. Foote, who plays a really excellent game, scored a well deserved victory in the senior bogey and was also the winner, with Miss A. Thompson, of the fourball bogey. Mrs. J. Belk (Utiku), Misses E. and K. Collier (Ranglwaea), Nancy Gibbs (Taihape) and Ngaire Siddle (Taihape) were amongst the winners of flights. It is particularly encouraging to see these young players to the fore. Miss Gibbs is a long hitter and one of the most promising of the junior members.

TAIHAPE LADIES’ GOLF CLUB. All the competitions have been finalised with the following re:»lts: — Senior championship final, Miss A. Spooner defeated Mrs. J. Quinn. Intermediate championship, Miss C. Bradley defeated Miss R. Bowler. Junior championship, Miss N. Boles won from Mrs. Frew by default. Hay Cup, Mrs. McKee won from Mrs. Kincaid by default.
