Brunswick The October meeting was held in the evening and a general invitation was extended to residents in the district, as members of the British Music Society were present. In an interesting address, Mr. White explained simply and clearly the difference between the composition of classical, romantic, and impressionistic music, and these differences were easily understood when Mrs. White and Mr. D. Stapleton illustrated by typical pianoforte items. Miss Ross, the president, reported on sending a parcel to the link institute at Wiveliscombe, and also asked for 2or 31b. tins, and clarified fat for Britain. A large number of letters was received from recipients of food parcels in Warwickshire. It was decided to call a public meeting in Brunswick in the near future with the object of forming a social committee, to be responsible for send-offs, gift evenings, etc. For the November meeting members were asked to bring articles from overseas tor display, also toys for the Orphanage; the competition to be a Christmas gift not costing more than 2s 6d. Mrs. Hiles-Smith read the president’s letter in Home and Country, and Mrs Littlejohn read a report of the halfyearly council meeting held recently at Kai Iwi. The competition for knitted toy resulted: Miss J. Smith 1 and 2- Mrs. C. Smith 3; best flower, Mrs. Thompson 1, Mrs. C. Smith 2, Miss N. Smith 3. Hostesses were Misses M. and F. Mullins.
