Clogan, president of the City of Ballarat Band, which finished second in the aggregate, said: “How are we going to raise £3700 to get to New Zealand? So many bands have come here we should be returning the visits.” The manager of the St. Kilda Band, Mr. L. Gillions, said: “We are glad our victory justified the confidence of the Dunedin people, who subscribed generously to the cost of the trip.”
