SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mrs. A. J. Banks, of Katikati, is visiting Wanganui and is the guest of her daughter, Miss T. Hunter. S.P.C.A. Shop Day. A butterless sponge competition is being held in connection with the S.P.C.A. shop day to be held on Friday next, October 7, in the 2nd. N.Z.E.F. Rooms. Donations to the various stalls will be gratefully received.
Girls’ College Concert. The annual concert sponsored by the Girls’ College Branch of the Student Christian .Movement was given on Saturday, October 1, in the Assembly Hall. All items were as usual produced by the pupils themselves and admission was oy a silver coin. In addition a produce stall was organised by seniors and this too, was well patronised. The evening provided spontaneous school-girl entertainment and the youthful producers have good reason to be satisfied with their efforts. £l3 was raised and this will go towards the funds of the movement and to the Leper Mission. T.G. Annual Council Meeting.
At the conclusion of the annual council meeting of the Dominion Federation of Townswomen’s Guilds held in Wellington, Mrs. E. R. Walton, president, recommended guilds to increase their social service, study procedure more fully and aim at maxing their Aid to Britain IUU per cent, effective. Officers and committee elected were: Hon. president, Miss A. E. Jerome Spencer, 0.8. E.; president, Mrs E. R. Walton; vice-president, Mrs L. Faulkner Smith; treasurer, Mrs. R. W. Galvin; secretary, Mrs. R. Crowley; committee Mesdames J. C. Anderson, H 5 S. Claughton, C. Corner, F. S. Dyson, R. Lake, A. Loader, J. O’Hara, B. Wilson.
