Waverley

The president, Mrs Stinson, presided at the monthly meeting of the Waverley Women's Institute, held on September 27, and welcomed a good attendance of members, including one new member and two visitors. Three members received gifts from the birthday box, and musical honours were accorded them. After the secretary had read the correspondence arrangements were finalised for the forthcoming stall to be held in aid of parcels for Britain. The three hostesses, Mesdames Copeland, P. Cunningham and Miss B. Barrett, served afternoon tea. Two visitors present judged the competitions and their awards were:—Tumbler of Iceland poppies, Mesdames Copeland 1, Milne 2, Howie 3; shoulder spray, Miss D. Glover 1, Mesdames Slater 2, Howie 3; six pieces of fudge, Mrs Milne 1, Miss A. Davies 2, Mrs W. Quayle 3; crochet cushion cover, Mesdames Milne 1, Howie 2. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
