Catholic Women’s League

The usual monthly social evening of the Catholic Women’s League was held recently, Mrs. Bellringer presiding, ably assisted by Mrs. Cleeve in the unavoidable absence of the secretary, Miss A. Bousfield.

After the routine business had been disposed of and voluntary assistants in the forthcoming Health Stamp Campaign appointed, Mrs. Bellringer, on behalf of the League, thanked Mrs Cleeve and Miss M. Kurts for their very valuable assistance during the past year and presented each with a floral spray. Father Kingan then introduced the guest speaker of the evening, Mr. T. Mullins, who gave a most interesting talk and demonstration about the little known method of resuscitation “Katsu” as practised by the Japanese. Mr. Mulilns then followed this up with an able discussion on the monetary system with particular reference to the devaluation of sterling. These talks were listened to most attentively.

Very enjoyable items were contributed by Miss Shirley Wiggins (elocution) and Miss Margaret Rowe (vocal solos).

It was decided that Ihe last meeting for the year be held in November and to take the form of an open night to which a hearty welcome is etended to all members and their friends. A very enjoyable evening is promised.
