HUNTERVILLE NEWS

THE LATE REV. C. R. KREEFT Vicar of Hunterville from 1925 to 1934, the Rev. Charles Ronald Kreeft died in Wellington. For some Mr Kreeft was a clerk in the Public Trust Office before entering the ministry of the Anglican Church. He was ordained a deacon in 1922 and served as an assislant curate at Christ Church, Wanganui. The following year he was ordained a priest a,ll continued to serve at Wanganui until his appointment to St. John the Baptist Church, Hunterville, in 1925. After remaining in Hunterville for nine years Mr Kreeft went to Eastbourne, where he stayed until 1946. Fpr the first five years of his stay at Eastbourne he acted as chaplain to the Croydon School. In 1946 Mr Kreeft was appointed vicar -of the parochial district of Khandallah, where he remained until his death. Of a very kindly and friendly nature. Mr Kreeft will be remembered at Hunterville as a quiet, earnest, hard-working and generous Christian gentleman, who acquitted himself with distinction both in the church and among his parishioners. BIRTHDAY AT RATA To celebrate the coming-of-age of Miss Margaret Stevens some 100 guests gathered at the residence of her parents Mr and Mrs T. G. Stevens, Rata, recently. Dancing and community singing helped pass away a most enjoyable evening. In presenting Margaret with the "key of the door,” Mp F. Haywood paid a tribute to her popularity in the district and wished her every success.
