Women In England And Wales Greatly Out-Number Men

LONDON, Oct. 3 (Reed. 6pm). —The “Daily Herald” says that unromantic population statistics issued by the Registrar-General this morning said that more than 500,000 young spinsters in England and Wales would never marry. Between the ages of 20 and 40 there are now 770,000 surplus women. In the next age group, 10 to 19, there are 271,000 more girls than boys, and in all groups women outnumber men by 2,380,000

One feminine bright spot in the statistics, however, was the information that women are living longer than men.
