Public Meeting As To Harbour
Sir, —Since the public undoubtedly has a right to know, I am submitting to you for publication the names of the members of the provisional civic committee at present organising a public meeting to discuss harbour atfairs. They are: Messrs Norman N. Allan, accountant, Nelson Street; C. D. Corliss, farmer, Westmere; J. F. Croasdale, commercial gardener, Springvale; E. Holly, watchmaker and jeweller, Rutland Buildings, Avenue; G. Leighton Jones, managing director, Messrs H. I. Jones and Son, Ltd., Victoria Avenue; J. P. Larsen, landscape gardener, 41 Alma Road; P. C. Lee, managing director, Messrs Cuthbertson and Lee, Ltd., Victoria Avenue; G. C. Liddell, carpenter, Moore Avenue; H R. Morgan, farmer, Fordell; F. M. Nevard, meat inspector, Balgownie Avenue; K. Prouse, dental mechanic, Union Bank Buildings, Avenue; W. R. Wotton, joint managing director, Sun Plating Service Ltd., St. Hill Street.
The executive of the Wanganui Electors’ Association convened the initial meeting of these gentlemen, who then formed themselves into a provisional committee for the purpose of arranging a public meeting to consider whether a public inquiry should be made into the affairs of the Harbour Board. The Electors’ Association is supplying the necessary finance, but the committee is a separate body.
