TWO MAORIS BURNED TO DEATH WHEN FIRE DESTROYS SHACK
AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— Two Maoris were burned to death when a fire destroyed a shack at Minginui, a milling settlement near Te Whaiti, at 3 o’clock this morning. They were beyond hope of rescue in the furiously burning building when the fire was seen by a neighbour. The victims were: David Padlie, aged 26, single, timber worker. Mrs. Sarah Sima, aged 25, of Minginui. A millhand living in a nearby building was awakened by the glare of flames, but the fire appeared to ’have been burning fiercely and nothi ing could then b e done to extinguish i the outbreak, or to aid the occupants. (The bodies were recovered later this I morning.
