Rata Dairy Factory Shows Increase In Annual Butter Output

HUNTERVILLE, Last Night (OC). —The total output of butter manufactured at the Rata Co-operativa Dairy Company during the past year was 846 tons, an increase of 129 tons on the previous 12 months. This was stated by the chairman of the company, Mr L. Hammond, at the annual meeting of shareholders. The average payment was 25.702 d. The sum of 126408 was available for distribution and the directors proposed to make a final payment on butterfat of four and one-tenth pence to shareholders and three and six-tenths pence to non-shareholders, absorbing approximately £26.348, said Mr Hammond.

The number of herds tested under the Wellington-Hawke’s Bay Herd Improvement Association was 63, comprising 2298 cows, an Increase of ten herds and 398 cows respectively on the previous year, stated the chairman's report. The veterinary services had been carried out by the veterinary officer, Mr R. K. Kent. M.R.C.V.S., whose time had been kept fully occupied. Unfortunately the company was losing his services in August, but the company had been successful in securing another officer, stated thd report. The retiring directors, Messrs L. Hammond, C. McManaway and T. J. Jamieson, were the only nominations received and were re-elected unopposed.
