JEWELLERY STOLEN BEFORE WAR FOUND IN ATTIC
LONDON, July 25 (Rec. 7.10 pm). —Five thousand pounds worth of jewellery stolen from a CliftonvilleKent Hotel in 1937 was discovered wrapped in pieces of old cloth and hidden in a disused commode which had been stored ir. an attic belonging to a former caretaker of the hotel.
During the war the hotel was used as billets for troops and it was not until after the wai that a number of pieces of furniture, including the commode, were removed and stored by the caretaker.
The police are now trying to restore the jewellery to its owners.— Special N.Z.P.A. Correspondent.
