N.Z. Director Of The Junior Red Cross Entertained In City
There was a pleasant afternoon t e a party at the Rutland Lounge yesterday, when Miss Pamela Paterson, Director of the New Zealand Junior Red Cross, was entertained by members of the Red Cross executive. In welcoming the gathering Mrs. A. E. Gould said the function was arranged so that Miss Paterson could meet members of the executive and others of the Red Cross Society. All appreciated the work of the Junior Red Cross and it was realised that in the future it is going to help make the peace, if service to others can be instilled into the young people it will help the world Mrs. Gould said she was pleased to welcome Miss Paterson on behalf of the executive. In reply the visitor thanked the members for the party, and said she Was so glad they shared with her the interest of the Red Cross. The juniors were keen and eager to help: the only drawback was the lack of leaders. Miss Paterson thanked the Wanganui Centre for the work it is doing and she also thanked the teachers present for their co-operation. Those present were Mesdames A. E. Gould, G. Edwards, J. C. Wickham, W. L. Walton, R. Hammond, J. McDougal, A. S. Guthrie, Dr. H. L. Widdowson, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Garden, Miss M. E. Baker, Mr. W. P. Meads, Miss H. Wilton leader of Durie Hill Junior Red Cross), Miss E. R. Smith (Technical College leader), Miss W. Swan (Nga Tawa School, Marton, leader), Miss K. OToole (Girls College leader).
