MEN TO BE TRAINED FOR THE THREE FIGHTING SERVICES

WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).—The training of men for the Navy and Air Force as well as for the Army were mentioned tonight by the Minister of Rehabilitation, Mr. Skinner, as being part of the scheme for compulsory military training. Mr. Skinner and Sir Howard Kippenberger, who addressed the same meeting at Lower Hutt, both pointed out that New Zealand’s fate would be decided on overseas battlefields and that the country should ie prepared to send a Division away again. Discussing criticisms of the proposal, Mr. Skinner said what was meant by compulsory military training was training men for the Army, Navy and Air Force, and not just “foot sloggers,” as had been suggested. There were about 75 persons at. the meeting, which carried with one dissentient a resolution supporting compulsory military training
