APPEAL FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS BY WANGANUI AID-FOR-BRITAIN COMMITTEE
An appeal for Christmas cheers for Britain’s aged and needy people has oeen made by the Wanganui Aid for Britain Committee. The committee would like to receive any gifts of foodstuffs, fat, or donations of money, which would give to the kinsfolk in Britain some material and tangible token of New Zealand’s thoughts lor them during the festive season of Christmas, 1949.
The committee would also like to send as great a consignment as possible to the Commonwealth Gift Centre for the discretionary distribution amongst the aged- deserving, and needy people, who have no friends or relatives in New Zealand or the Empire .
As four months is the time allowed for the time between the despatch and arrival of gift foodstuffs for Christmas distribution in Britain, all consignments should be at the Wanganui depot before the end of next month.
