ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH VESTRY.

REV. BARNETT RETIRING SHORTLY. At a recent meeting of St. Andrew's Church vestry, the vicar, Rev. N. S. Barnett, intimated that he had placed his resignation in the hands of the bishop, to take effect from August next. Owing to the illhealth of Mrs. Barnett, the vicar stated that ne was obliged to seek a warmer climate, and henceforth had decided to retire to Tauranga. Rev. Barnett has been in charge of the Bulls parish (which took in the districts of Sanson, Carnarvon, Parewanui and Greatford) since 1938, during which time he was assiduous in the discharge of the manifold duties his calling entailed. It was reported at the vestry meeting that Mr. Geo. Dale, a local builder, had offered to erect a building 'for a Sunday School, doing all the labour on the building free of charge. At present the church is used for a Sunday Schoo|, but the roll has grown to such proportions that the building is no longer suitable, especially from the point of view of different classes. The vestry, with about a third of the estimated cost of the building (less the cost of furnishing) in hand would like to avail themselves of Mr. Dale’s generous offer, and are exploring every possibility with a view to providing adequate accommodation for the children.
