TIMARU, Last Night (PA).—"That the Timaru branch of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union opposes the policy of the national council until such time as it gives effect to the branch's request to hold a national plebiscite to determine whether the rank and file are in agreement with the present policy of the national officers, executive and council of the union.’’ This motion was passed at a meeting today of the Timaru branch alter considering the decision of the council to support a 44-hour week for the main ports.
