TAIHAPE NEWS

RAILWAY FOOTBALL. In a match for the Elliott Shield, played at Taihape on Sunday, the local team defeated the challenging Frankton side by 10 points to five in the presence of a fairly large crowd of spectators. The game was hard fought, but Taihape had the edge on their opponents and scored a well deserved victory. For the winners tries were scored by Smith and Brown, both being converted. The visitors scored an unconverted try. For the first time in history, Taihape hold three valuable trophies— Cascade Cup, Mullin-Bull Cup, and Elliott Shield. These symbols of Rugby supremacy can be seen at the railway refreshment rooms, wliere they are attracting much attention. Taihape has a strong team this year and can be depended upon to give a good account of itself in defence of the trophies it is so proud of. Supporters of the game will wish the Taihape team every success in its future engagements.
