Wanganui Support For Experiments With Aerial Top-Dressing
Support for experiments with aerial top-dressing, which are being made by a committee representing Federated Farmers, the Soil Preservation and Rivers Control Council, the Air Department and others, was given by the Wanganui Central and District Aid-for-Britain Committee at its monthly executive meeting yesterday. Mr. S. J. Timbs said that aerial topdressing would do much to bring secondary and marginal land into production. “The promoters of the scheme should be congratulated and given every support,” he added. “I would like to see a resolution carried by this committee fully endorsing the efforts of those people and urging that all the help they need be given by the Government and the Department of Agriculture,’’ said Mr. Timbs. Mr. W. J. B. Tripe asked that the resolution include a hope that the experiments bo extended to include topdressing trials in the Wanganui district. Much of the credit for what haq already been done was due to Mr. L. T. Daniell, Masterton, Federated , Farmers’ representative on the committee. “We have a great deal of rough, second-class land in this district,” said Mr. Tripe. The resolution was carried.
