LITTLE HOPE FOR HOME DUAL-WAVE RADIO SEIS TO PICK UP ALL BLACKS
WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA). —New Zealand owners of dual wave radio sets had little hope of receiving broadcast summaries ot All BlacK games direct from South Africa, said the superintending engineer of Station 2YA, Mr. N. Palmer, tonight. South Africa had no shortwave broadcast stations and the summaries which would be rebroadcast in New Zealand would be sent from a relatively low-powered South African Government station, he said. “We have to use a large aerial array ourselves to pick up this station,” said Mr. Palmer. “There is little chance that it will be received on an ordinary household set ” The path of the broadcast also crossed the Auroral zone which was liable to cause violent disturbances in reception. A summary of the games will be received about 3.45 a.m. New Zealand time, and would be rebroadcast directly after the 6, 7 and 8 a.m. news, said Mr. Palmer. The game between the All Blacks and Western Province universities would be reviewed at 9 a.m. and repeated at 9.15 p.m.
