Amendments To Standard Grades Of Meat For Local Markets

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night (PA) —The Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr. Nordmeyer) referred today to the amendments to the standard gades of meat for local market, gazetted this week. The amendments permit ewe mutton ot suitable quality to be graded “first grade” and gives definitions of joints and cuts which are the subject ot wholesale trade. Also establish standard weight ranges, classification of carcasses and substitute a chocolate coloured stripe for the green stripe previously used to mark "boner” meat. Opportunity has been taken to consolidate amendments into one standard specification. The amendments to grade come into force on June 1, 1949.
