STEEL SHORTAGE CAUSES MILL TO CLOSE DOWN

SYDNEY, May 6 (Recd. 6pm).—Because of the steel shortage Lysaghts Tandem mill at Port Kembla closed down today. It will lose 32 hours’ production each week while the shortage of steel continues. In 32 hours the mill produces 400 tons of steel as well as corrugated and galvanised iron, conduit piping and hollow ware.
