Football Team Killed In Plane Crash

(N Z P.A.—Copyright.) ROME, May 4 (Recd. 10a.m.). Thirty-one people, including an entire Turin footoall team returning from Portugal were killed when their plane struck a church tower in Turin and crashed, reports the British United Press Turin correspondent. The passengers comprised 23 football players, one trainer, and three of Italy’s lending sports writers. There was also a crew of four. The plane, which had been specially chartered, was circling the city to make a landing when its wingtip brushed against the church tower. As soon as the plane hit the ground it was a roaring mass of flames, and no one was able to approach it until the fire brigade arrived. The news of the crash created a bigger shock in Milan than any international event of the past two years. Excited fans surrounded a Press building in the centre of the city shouting for information.
